Ehsan Mahmodi Arjmand had a pretty long journey, starting from a tiny village in Iran called Ammatlar (امتلر), all the way to Germany, where he's currently pursuing his Ph.D. studies. He had to work hard and overcome many obstacles to chase his dreams, but he never gave up.

Ehsan, got into centrifugal microfluidics by chance, but he found it super interesting and decided to base his Master's thesis on it. He came up with a lab-on-a-disk platform that can measure HbA1c, the gold standard marker for diabetes mellitus diagnosis. After his Master's, Ehsan applied for a Ph.D. position in Prof. Roland Zengerle's research group at Hahn-Schickard Institute for applied science. He was impressed with the group's research projects and is now working full-time as a Ph.D. student in the microfluidics division. His mission is to develop a Point-of-Care centrifugal microfluidic platform that can purify and detect extracellular vesicles from blood plasma. He's hoping that his work will have a big impact on cancer diagnosis in the future.

Besides his work, Ehsan is all about that work-life balance. He's a pretty active person and loves to get outdoors for some cycling, mountain biking, and even dancing and rave parties. When he's not tearing it up on the trails, Ehsan likes to strum on his guitar and sing a little ditty. He believes that staying active and creative keeps him feeling good and motivated to tackle all the challenges that come with his scientific pursuits.
